Biography of Denis Kovba

Denis Kovba is a Belarusian football player who currently plays as a midfielder for Krylya Sovetov. He was born to a Belarusian mother and a Ukrainian father. Kovba started playing football in Vitebsk and joined the youth academy of Lokomotiv Vitebsk. After playing for the reserve team, he eventually made his way into the first team.

In 1998, on the advice of his father, Kovba moved to Ukraine to join Zvezda Kirovograd, which was playing in the top tier of the Ukrainian championship at the time. In late June 2000, he signed a two-year contract with Krylya Sovetov in Samara, Russia. On June 27, he made his debut for Krylya Sovetov, coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute against Alania Vladikavkaz.

On March 10, 2007, Kovba played his 200th match for Krylya Sovetov in all competitions, which was the first match of the Russian Premier League against Khimki. On September 30, 2007, in a match against Dynamo Moscow, Kovba played his 188th match in the Russian championships, becoming the all-time record holder for Krylya Sovetov. In total, he played 216 matches in the Russian Premier League, 31 matches in the Russian Cup, and 7 matches in European competitions for the club.

On July 29, 2009, Kovba moved to Czech club Sparta Prague, where he won the Czech championship. On June 3, 2010, there were rumors of him returning to Krylya Sovetov, and on June 10, he signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Samara-based team. However, on December 20, 2011, he left Krylya Sovetov following the expiration of his contract. During his 12 seasons with the club, Kovba played over 250 matches in various tournaments and won the bronze medal in the Russian Premier League in 2004 and reached the final of the Russian Cup.

On November 15, 2007, Kovba and his wife Nadezhda welcomed their son Platon in Samara.
