Early LifeKevin Keegan, born Joseph Kevin Keegan, is a former English footballer who is considered one of the greatest players in the history of English football. He was born on February 14, 1951, in Armthorpe, England.
Playing Career
Keegan began his professional career in 1968 with Scunthorpe United, a fourth division club in England. He then moved to Liverpool in 1971, where he played until 1977, scoring 68 goals in 230 appearances. Keegan then played for Hamburg in Germany from 1977 to 1980, Southampton from 1981 to 1982, and Newcastle from 1982 to 1984. He also represented the England national team from 1972 to 1982, earning 63 caps and scoring 21 goals.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Keegan pursued a coaching career. He managed Newcastle United from 1992 to 1997, Fulham from 1997 to 1999, and the England national team from 1999 to 2000. In 2001, he became the manager of Manchester City, where he currently serves as a coach.
