Biography of Derren Brown
Derren Victor Brown was born in 1971 in Purley, London, England, United Kingdom. His parents, Bob and Chris Brown, raised him along with his younger brother. Derren attended Whitgift School, where his father taught swimming, and later went on to study Law and German at the University of Bristol. During his time at university, Derren attended a mass hypnosis session by Martin S. Taylor, which deeply impacted him and sparked his interest in working in that field. He began his career in magic and illusion by performing simple tricks and shows in bars.
Television Career
Derren Brown gained widespread recognition through television. In 2000, he debuted his own show on TV, and later convinced Channel 4 to produce a show about mind reading. His program, 'Mind Control,' quickly became a hit with viewers. In 2004, he started another project called 'Trick of the Mind,' which aired until 2006. Throughout his career, Brown has hosted several other TV shows, including 'Waking Dead,' 'Trick or Treat,' 'Derren Brown: The Events,' 'Derren Brown Investigates,' 'Derren Brown: The Experiments,' and 'Mind Control with Derren Brown.' His show 'Mind Control with Derren Brown' gained him the most popularity.
Magic and Illusion
Derren Brown frequently incorporates classic card tricks into his performances. One of his popular tricks involves selecting a card from a deck and asking an audience member to name any card that comes to mind. Miraculously, the named card always ends up in Derren's hands. He claims to have the ability to influence the audience member to choose the specific card he wants them to name.

Derren Brown's incredible abilities seem supernatural to many people. However, he asserts that he possesses no special powers but instead utilizes elements of magic, suggestion, psychology, diversion, and creating illusions to influence people's thoughts. He has also developed a unique trick where he is able to select colors from one room, while people in another room accurately guess the chosen colors.

Derren Brown was previously an evangelist but later identified as an atheist. In 2007, he publicly came out as gay in an interview with the Independent. He has been involved with the Parrot Zoo Trust, a charitable organization that supports a zoo in Friskney, eastern Lincolnshire near Boston, England, since 2004.
