Biography of Des'ree
Des'ree, an English pop singer, was born in London. At the age of fourteen, she made the decision to dedicate her life to music. Growing up with a large collection of music thanks to her parents, Des'ree became familiar with genres such as jazz and reggae. As a teenager, she began writing her own lyrics and putting them to music.
Early Career
When Des'ree turned twenty-three, she recorded her first demo cassette and sent it to the Sony label. The cassette included the song "Feel So High," which later became her debut single. The popularity of the single and her subsequent album, "Mind Adventures," made Des'ree a global sensation.
Breakthrough
However, Des'ree's stellar career truly took off with the release of her second album, "I Ain't Movin'." The song "You Gotta Be" from the album remained high on various music charts for a long time. The music video for the song also received significant acclaim. Additionally, the song was included in a tribute album for Princess Diana, released in the autumn of 1997.
Continued Success
The single "You Gotta Be" was re-released in remixed versions and continued to reach the top twenty charts. This was a significant achievement for Des'ree, as not every song from the 90s manages to repeatedly make it to the top twenty. Her participation in a concert tour with Seal in 1995 solidified her status as a global star. In the same year, she performed her first concert in the Vatican and received the blessing of the Pope.
Soundtracks and Supernatural
Des'ree also recorded songs for movies, with notable examples being the films "Clockers" by Spike Lee and "Romeo & Juliet" by Baz Luhrmann. Her album "Supernatural," released in 1998, brought even more success than her previous album. The first single from the album, "Life," reached the top ten in July of the same year, and the second single, "What's Your Sign," entered the top twenty in November.
Continued Musical Journey
Following the success of "Supernatural," Des'ree embarked on a concert tour in America and Europe from late 1998 to early 1999. During this time, she composed songs for her new album.
