Devon Murray is an Irish actor who has gained fame for his portrayal of Seamus Finnigan in the Harry Potter film series. Prior to landing this role, he had played Christy in "This is My Father," Malachy in "Angela's Ashes," and Geoffrey in "Yesterday's Children."
Early Life and Career
Born on October 28, 1988, in County Kildare, Ireland, Devon Murray is the only child of Michael and Fidelma Murray. At the age of six, he enrolled in the Billie Barry Stage School. He later moved on to the National Performing Arts School, honing his acting skills.
Murray's acting career took off with "This is My Father," which opened doors for him in the film industry. His role in "Angela's Ashes" and the subsequent film "Yesterday's Children" brought him international recognition and paved the way for him to portray Seamus Finnigan, a classmate of Harry Potter in the young wizard's epic journey.
International Stardom and Equestrianism
Beyond acting, Murray is an accomplished equestrian, participating in and winning numerous horse shows in Ireland. His family owns a horse farm in Offaly. Rumor has it that Devon Murray will compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Remaining Grounded in Ireland
Despite the global fame he has garnered, Murray insists that he has not become a celebrity in Ireland. "I really haven't become recognizable here at all, because the Irish are so down-to-earth that they wouldn't make a fuss of you, even if they did recognize you."
In contrast, Murray notes the overwhelming reception he receives overseas. "But when we go to America, it's a different kind of madness, they go crazy over anything that has to do with our film. And Japan is the same – when we were last there on tour, I must have shaken hands with about two million people. It's a good thing most of those handshakes were imaginary."
