Janik Khatibullayevich Fayziev is a renowned Uzbek and Russian film director and producer, known for his exceptional contributions to the entertainment industry.
Early Life and Acting Career
Born into a family of artistic talents, with his father being the acclaimed Uzbek director Khabib Fayziev and mother the actress Svetlana Norbaeva, Janik first ventured into the world of acting at a young age. He made his debut in television films such as "U Samogo Sinego Neba" and "Chelovek Ukhondit za Ptitsami" (1975).
Education and Film Studies
In 1983, Janik graduated from the acting department of the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), under the mentorship of Boris Chirkov. He further pursued his passion by completing the directorial program at VGIK in 1991 under the guidance of Yuri Ozerov and Irakli Kvirikadze.
Television and Filmmaking
Janik's career in television began in the late 1980s, where he showcased his multifaceted skills as an assistant director for Uzbekkino and an actor for the Cinema Actor's Studio Theater. He notably directed several productions at the youth theater "Ilkhom" in Tashkent.
Notable Projects
New Year's Musicals:Janik's most renowned project is the "Starye Pesni o Glavnom" (Old Songs About the Main Things), a series of musical New Year's films broadcast on Channel One.
Feature Films:
In 2005, Fayziev directed "Turetsky Gambit," a popular film based on the novel by Boris Akunin. He later produced the 2008 film "Admiral."
Later Career
Since the early 2000s, Janik has primarily focused on directing feature films and television series. He played a role in the development of the "Volkodav iz Roda Serykh Psov" project but withdrew due to funding constraints. The film was later directed by Nikolai Lebedev.
In 2002, Janik was appointed Director of the Film Production Directorate for Channel One.
Fayziev's contributions to the film industry have been recognized with prestigious awards such as the "Silver Cypress" at the International Festival of Advertising Films in Yalta (1994), for his work on the "Most-card" commercial.
