Biography of Diana Nikitina

Diana Nikitina is a Latvian figure skater who was born on 15 December 1998. She began her figure skating career in 2004 and quickly rose through the ranks.

Early Career

Nikitina started competing internationally as a novice skater in the 2012/13 season and as a junior skater in the 2014/15 season. She represented the JLSS Jelgava club and trained in Riga, Jelgava, St. Petersburg, and Switzerland. Throughout her career, she has been coached by Roman Panteleev, Yuliya Kulibanova, Andrey Brovenko, Armen Asoyan, and Stefan Lambiel.

Junior Achievements

In 2014, Nikitina became the Latvian Junior Champion and also competed in her first Grand Prix event, where she finished in 11th place. The following year, she placed 10th at the World Junior Championships and won the Volvo Open Cup in the junior category in both the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons.

Olympic Success

Nikitina's biggest achievement came in 2016 when she won the silver medal in the team event at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. She also placed 5th in the ladies' individual event.

Transition to Senior Competition

In the 2017/18 season, Nikitina moved up to compete in senior events. She won the Golden Bear of Zagreb competition and finished as the silver medalist at the Cup of Tyrol. At the Latvian Championships, she became the national champion for the first time. Despite these successes, her debut at the Continental Championships in Moscow was disappointing as she finished near the bottom of the standings.

Current Status

As of September 2021, Diana Nikitina is ranked 70th in the International Skating Union (ISU) rankings. She continues to compete internationally and represents Latvia at various competitions. She is known for her technical skills and graceful performances on the ice. Nikitina remains determined to achieve even greater success in her figure skating career.
