Biography of Kaetlyn Osmond

Kaetlyn Osmond is a Canadian figure skater. She was born and raised in Marystown, Newfoundland, to parents Jeff and Jackie Osmond. Inspired by her older sister Natasha, Kaetlyn began figure skating at a young age.

Early Career

Natasha Osmond specialized in singles, pairs, and ice dancing, mostly competing at the national level. In order to train during the summer months when there was no ice in Marystown, the sisters traveled to Montreal. The family's desire to provide a better training environment led them to move to Sherwood Park, Alberta, where Kaetlyn continues to reside.

Training and Championships

At the age of 10, Osmond began training at the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club in Edmonton under coach Ravi Walia and choreographer Lance Vipond. In the 2011-2012 season, she made her debut at the Canadian Championships and finished in third place. She also competed in the Junior World Championships, finishing in 10th place.

International Success

In the 2012-2013 season, Osmond won her first international competition, the Nebelhorn Trophy. She also made her debut at the Grand Prix level, finishing in first place overall at Skate Canada. She won her first senior national title at the 2013 Canadian Championships, becoming the first non-Quebec skater to win the women's event in 10 years. She placed 7th at the Four Continents Championships and 8th at the World Championships that year.

Injuries and Comeback

The following season, Osmond was plagued by injuries. She was unable to compete at Skate Canada and Cup of Russia due to a knee injury. She returned to competition at the 2014 Skate Canada Challenge, where she finished in first place overall. She successfully defended her national title at the Canadian Championships and was selected to represent Canada at the Olympic Games.

Olympic Experience

At the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Osmond contributed to Canada's silver medal in the team event but finished in 13th place in the individual competition. She then competed at the World Championships, finishing in 11th place.
