Biography of Diane Bish

Diane Bish is an American organist and television host. She studied under Mildred Andrews at the University of Oklahoma, and then in Paris with Nadia Boulanger and Marie-Claire Alain, and in Amsterdam with Gustav Leonhardt.

For over 20 years, Bish served as the organist of the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. However, she gained her fame primarily through her television project, "The Joy of Music," a weekly program produced by PBS for over 25 years and featuring approximately 500 episodes. In each episode, Bish, either alone or with other musicians, performs on various organs from around the world.

In 1993, a book about Diane Bish, titled "Diane Bish: First Lady of the Organ," was released by Warren Woodruff, recognizing her as a pioneer in the field.
