Early Life and Family

Born on October 21, 1965, in Mexico City, Plácido Domingo Jr. is the son of renowned Spanish tenor and philanthropist, Plácido Domingo, and his second wife, Mexican soprano Marta Ornelas. Growing up in Teaneck, New Jersey, he was immersed in music from an early age. His mother, who initially gave up her career to focus on raising her sons, later returned as a stage director.

Musical Influences and Collaborations

Domingo Jr. developed a love for music and became familiar with the world of opera, despite his mother's initial career break. He has written songs for artists such as Michael Bolton, Riccardo Cocciante, Vanessa Williams, and his father, among others. In 2009, he participated in the recording of the album "Amore Infinito" as an executive producer, composer, and singer. The album, featuring the poetry of Pope John Paul II sung by Plácido Domingo Sr., topped Billboard Magazine's Top Classical Crossover Albums chart.

International Debut and Christmas EP

In 2010, Plácido Domingo Jr. made his international debut as a performer on the album "Songs for Christmas/Canciones de Navidad." He collaborated with Grammy-winning producer and recording engineer Juan Cristóbal Losada. Released on November 3, 2010, the album featured an unreleased Spanish adaptation of David Foster and Linda Thompson's "My Grown-Up Christmas List" and a new rendition of the classic Puerto Rican Christmas song "Villancico Yaucano."
