Dmitry Gromov was born on March 30, 1963, in Simferopol. In 1969, he moved to Sevastopol (Crimea), and in 1974, he relocated to Kharkiv, where he currently resides.
Education and Career
In 1980, after completing secondary school, Dmitry enrolled in the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, specializing in the technology of inorganic substances. He graduated with honors in 1986 and started working as a chemical engineer at KNPO "Carbonate."
In 1988, Dmitry entered the graduate program of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. He completed his studies in 1991 but did not defend his dissertation as he had already shifted his focus to literary activities.
Literary Activities
Dmitry Gromov's literary career began in collaboration with Oleg Ladyzhensky under the pseudonym Henry Lion Oldie. They started writing science fiction together in 1990. Their first publication was the story "Happiness in Written Form" in 1991.
Dmitry Gromov has been writing science fiction since 1976. His first published work was the story "Coordinates of Death" in 1991. In 2004, Dmitry's rock opera "Broken Circle," based on his story "Razorenniy Krug," was released. The music for the rock opera was composed by Alexey Gorbov.
In addition to his science fiction writings, Dmitry Gromov has also authored and published a monograph on the creative work of the band "Deep Purple."
Personal Life and Interests
Dmitry Gromov got married in 1989 and is raising a son born in 1989. Among his interests are music, particularly "hard rock" and the band "Deep Purple," about which he has written and published a monograph. He also holds a second-degree brown belt in karate (GOJU-Ryu school) and is an actor at the theater studio "Pelican," having played leading roles in approximately ten plays.
