Early Life and Career
Domagoj Vida is a Croatian professional footballer who currently plays as a center-back for Dynamo Kyiv and the Croatia national team. Born in Osjek, Croatia, he began his football career with the youth academy of his hometown club NK Osijek.
Osijek Years
Vida made his professional debut for Osijek in 2006 at the age of 19. Over the next four seasons, he established himself as a regular member of the team, making 90 appearances in the Croatian First Football League and scoring six goals.
Bundesliga and Return to Croatia
In 2010, Vida joined Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. However, his playing time was limited in his first season, as he mainly featured in the UEFA Europa League. He made his Bundesliga debut in March 2011 but only played a handful of games. In June of the same year, Vida returned to Croatia, signing with the reigning Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb.
Success with Dinamo Zagreb
Vida quickly became a key player for Dinamo Zagreb, helping the team win the Croatian league and cup double in his first season. He played a vital role in their continued domestic dominance in the following years.
International Debut and Euro 2012
Vida made his debut for the Croatia national team in 2010 and was part of the squad that competed in the Euro 2012 qualification campaign. He was selected for the final tournament in 2012 by coach Slaven Bilić but only featured in one match, a 1-0 defeat to Spain.
