Biography of Dominique Turpin
Dominique Turpin is a French scientist who has made significant contributions as the President of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) from an administrative perspective. However, he has also continued to focus on scientific research while launching new educational programs and initiatives. Born in Tours, France, Dominique spent his childhood and adolescence in France, where he also obtained his bachelor's degree.

In 1976, after receiving his bachelor's degree, Turpin began his studies as part of the ESSCA project. During his studies, he spent a year studying political marketing at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Later, Dominique earned his doctoral degree at Sophia University in Tokyo. He is now listed among the most distinguished graduates of Sophia University and the IMD International Program for Board Members.

Between 1986 and 1991, Dominique Turpin served as an assistant professor at the Swiss IMEDE and a visiting professor at Keio Business School in Japan. In 1991, he became a full professor at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and was promoted to President of the institute in July 2010. As the President of IMD, Dominique is responsible for providing educational services and perspectives for global leaders.

Under his guidance, several major IMD programs were launched and implemented, including the MBA and PED programs. Turpin successfully introduced programs in previously unexplored or underdeveloped markets, such as Singapore, Brazil, China, and Japan. Notably, his programs catered to the specific needs of prominent companies such as Groupe SEB, Panasonic, and Japan Tobacco International. He has also provided consulting services to other renowned international companies, including Coca Cola, CPW, Danone, DSM, Jardine Matheson, Nestlé, Novo Nordisk, Philips, and Uponor.
Dominique Turpin regularly contributes to Nihon Sangyo Shimbun, one of Japan's largest and most respected business publications. He serves as an editor-consultant for the Singapore Management Review and as an editor for the Long Range Planning Journal and The International Journal of Strategic Management.
In addition to his academic and professional roles, Turpin has been involved in various organizations and associations. He served on the board of the Japanese trading company ITOCHU from 1997 to 1999 and was elected to the International Academy of Management in 2000. Since 1994, Turpin has represented IMD in the Academic Council of the China-Europe International Business School in Shanghai.
Throughout his career, Dominique Turpin has received numerous accolades, including the 'Best European Case Writing' award in 2001 and 2002. In 2002, he was appointed as the IMD Dentsu Professor, focusing on Japanese management systems. Currently, Turpin specializes in studying marketing strategies, communications, and brand management. He has published over 100 books, articles, and research reports in popular print publications. Dominique Turpin is married and has three children.
