Early Life and Inspiration
Don Grusin, the younger brother of renowned musician Dave Grusin, initially resisted pursuing a musical career, fearing the shadow of his older sibling. However, in 1975, his passion for music ignited.
Formation of a Band and Touring
That same year, he formed his own band and embarked on a tour with Quincy Jones. This led to the formation of the group "Friendship," which recorded for the Elektra label, led by Don Grusin.
Collaboration with JVC
In the early 1980s, Don Grusin recorded several albums for the JVC label. His collaboration with his brother, Dave Grusin, began in 1988 when they joined the renowned GRP Records label.
GRP Records and Notable Collaborations
Throughout his career, Don Grusin has participated in recordings by renowned jazz musicians, including Eric Marienthal. In 1995, his collaboration on Marienthal's "Easy Street" earned them a top-five position in the charts.
