Biography of Don Imus

Don Imus, an American radio host, comedian, writer, and philanthropist, was born on July 23, 1940, in Riverside, California. He grew up on a ranch called "The Willows" near Kingman, Arizona.

Early Life and Military Service

From the late 1950s to 1960, Don Imus served in the Marine Corps, where he received excellent training. During his early years as a young professional, he struggled with alcohol addiction. However, in 1987, he successfully overcame alcoholism and has remained sober ever since.

Radio Career and Personal Life

Don Imus began his career as a radio host in 1968, taking the position by convincing the owner that he could do a better job than others. Throughout the following years, he proved his talent and professionalism. He worked for WGAR radio in Ohio for a period of time before relocating to New York in 1971 and joining WNBC radio.

Imus' sharp humor and genuine professionalism made him highly sought after in the industry. He excelled as a radio host, commentator, news and sports analyst, and his witty remarks often became well-known anecdotes. He created numerous interesting projects throughout his creative career.
