Drew Gordon: A Basketball Journey

Early Career and European Stints

Drew Gordon, an American professional basketball player, went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft. He joined the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Summer League and later signed a one-year contract with Partizan Belgrade in Serbia. After leaving Partizan in 2013, he moved to Italy's Dinamo Sassari, where he played in the EuroLeague and Italian League. Gordon then signed with Turkish team Banvit, but returned to Dinamo Sassari later that year.

NBA Debut and G League

In 2014, Gordon joined the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Summer League and eventually signed a contract with the team. However, he was waived after just one game. He was invited to the Delaware 87ers, the 76ers' G League affiliate, before being re-signed by Philadelphia. Gordon made his NBA debut against the Dallas Mavericks in November 2014 but was waived again after nine games.

Return to Europe and French Dominance

Gordon signed with French club Champagne Châlons-Reims in 2015. In the Pro A League, he averaged 14 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, earning 13 double-doubles and ranking second in the league in rebounds. He was named MVP of the 15th match day in December 2015 and invited to the French All-Star Game.

Lithuanian Adventure and Zenit Stint

In 2016, Gordon moved to Lithuanian club Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius. He performed consistently in the Lithuanian League and EuroCup, averaging 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in the former and 12.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in the latter. In 2017, he joined Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Personal Life and Legacy

Drew Gordon was the older brother of NBA player Aaron Gordon. Sadly, he passed away in a car accident in Portland, Oregon, on May 30, 2024. Drew Gordon's journey as a basketball player exemplified determination and resilience, and he left an enduring legacy in the hearts of fans worldwide.
