Musical Journey and Business Acumen

Before becoming a member of 'The Oak Ridge Boys', Allen underwent training in opera singing and quartet singing. Alongside his incredible voice and musical prowess, Allen brought amazing business intuition to the group. He owned his own record label, 'Superior Records'. In 1998, the group was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. In April 1990, Allen was inducted into the Texas Gospel Music Hall Of Fame. He was surprised with a commemorative plaque by Lou Willis Hildret during a live broadcast of the 'Crook & Chase TV show' in Nashville, Tennessee. Expressing his gratitude and love for gospel music, Allen emotionally thanked Lou for the honor.

Contributions and Achievements

Allen recorded his first song with Howard Rogers and the 'SouthernAires' quartet on the 'Sword & Shield Records' label, which belonged to the Willis family. He also authored a book on the history of gospel music, which earned him an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from a Christian college.

Personal Life and Hobbies

Since 1969, Allen has been married to Nora Lee Allen, who was a backing vocalist in the 'Grand Ole Opry' group. They have a happy marriage and live on their own farm in Hendersonville, Tennessee, which serves as an example of an ideal household. The farm is home to horses, Canadian geese, beef cattle, and donkeys. Dwayne and Nora Lee have raised two children, Jamie and Dee. Additionally, Allen is a proud grandfather to two grandsons, Mark and Kell, and two granddaughters, Texas Lee Ann and Tellant.

Apart from his music career, Allen is a passionate basketball fan. He records the games of his favorite teams if they coincide with his performances and watches them later. To relax and maintain good physical fitness, Dwayne walks 20-30 miles a week and works with a personal trainer. He also collects and restores old cars, owning more than two dozen. He believes that polishing and painting the body of a car helps relieve stress.

Allen's talent extends beyond music, as he is also a skilled businessman. He took charge of the group's finances during the 1970s when 'The Oak Ridge Boys' transitioned from gospel to country music. He is constantly searching for new music for the group, which led him to become a co-producer of the group's music.
