In February 2004, Dustin, along with his Harvard classmates Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes, created the social network initially known as thefacebook.com. The platform was initially designed for Harvard students to stay connected with each other. In June 2004, Dustin and Mark took a break from their studies and moved to Palo Alto, where they established the company's headquarters and hired eight employees. Sean Parker, who recognized the potential of the platform, later joined the project and helped secure investments.

Within Facebook, Dustin was responsible for the technical aspects, leading the development team, overseeing the architecture of the platform, and strategizing the company's growth. However, on October 3, 2008, Dustin announced his departure from Facebook. Together with Justin Rosenstein, a former Facebook developer and a former Google employee, he founded a new company called Asana, which aimed to create a project management platform.

Dustin and Justin developed the application, which organized news feeds and interacted with various products created by former Facebook programmers. The application was built using the JavaScript framework called Luna.

Aside from his ventures in Facebook and Asana, Dustin is also known as a significant investor in the mobile photo service "Path," created by David Morin, another former Facebook employee. He played a role in influencing David's decision to decline a $100 million offer from Google in February 2011. Additionally, Dustin founded the charitable organization "Good Ventures" in 2011. In June 2012, "Good Ventures" established a close partnership with the evaluation company "GiveWell."

In the 2010 film "The Social Network," which revolves around the story of Facebook, Dustin Moskovitz is portrayed by actor Joseph Mazzello. However, Dustin himself has stated that the film exaggerates certain aspects, such as the involvement of the Winklevoss brothers, with whom he has never met or worked. He believes that the film neglects important details that remained behind the scenes.
