English singer Dusty Springfield, born Mary O'Brien, was born on April 16, 1939, in the United Kingdom. Dusty Springfield is one of the most popular pop rock singers of the 1960s. She was born into an aristocratic family and is related to the ruling royal family. She began singing with her brother Tom - together with Tom Field, they formed the folk trio Springfields. Dusty then pursued a solo career, and in 1963, she entered the British Top 10 with the single "I Only Want To Be With You." She toured extensively and performed on television with Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, and on The Ed Sullivan Show. In the mid-70s, she stopped recording, but in 1978, she released two albums that did not achieve commercial success. Her "comeback" came in the late 80s when she started recording with the Pet Shop Boys.
