A Noble Cause

Aside from the incredible experiences, unfamiliar sights, and achieving peak physical fitness, Ed also dedicated his journey to a noble cause. He raised around £8,500 to support an Alzheimer's disease research organization. Ed's grandmother had passed away from this disease, and he wanted to honor her memory through his cycling expedition and the funds he raised.

A Journey across Continents

Beginning his journey at the iconic Clifton Bridge in his hometown, Ed pedaled his way through nine months of exploration. He ventured through European countries, Turkey, the Middle East, the Far East, and finally completed his tour in Australia. At the finish line, Ed was greeted by his girlfriend, Lavinia Paternoster, who welcomed him home bearded, happy, and incredibly exhausted.

A Challenging Adventure

In a later interview, Ed admitted that his journey was incredibly fascinating but also challenging, both physically and mentally demanding. Nevertheless, he considers the experience priceless. In a surprising revelation, one of his favorite countries he visited was Iran. Ed assures that everything he had heard about the country prior to his trip turned out to be entirely false. The hospitality, warmth, and safety he experienced in Iran greatly amazed him. He expressed his desire to revisit Iran and explore more of its wonders.

A Life-changing Decision

In order to embark on his nine-month adventure, Ed had to leave his job. However, he firmly believes that this journey was well worth it. He could have sat at a desk for years without ever truly understanding and experiencing how the rest of the world lives. Ed's decision to cycle across continents has allowed him to broaden his horizons and gain a unique perspective on life.
