Biography of Edmund Shklarsky
Edmund Shklarsky is a Soviet and Russian musician, multi-instrumentalist, poet, composer, artist, leader, guitarist, and vocalist of the rock band "Piknik". He was born in a family with strong musical traditions and grew up speaking both Russian and Polish. His father, Mechlav Shklarsky, was a mining engineer and a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, while his mother, Irina Shklarskaya, worked as a piano teacher at the Conservatory. Edmund is married to Elena Shklarskaya and they have a daughter Alina and grandchildren.

Early Life and Musical Career
Edmund Shklarsky began his musical education at a young age, studying piano at a music school. However, his interest in rock and roll led him to abandon his classical training. He later pursued a degree in electrical engineering at Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. In the mid-1960s, he discovered bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Animals, which inspired him to learn guitar. He briefly rehearsed with the band "Aquarium" in 1973 but ultimately decided to pursue his own path.

The Formation of "Piknik"
In 1977, Shklarsky joined the band "Orion" as a pianist and second vocalist. The band later changed its name to "Piknik" and gained recognition after performing at the opening of the Leningrad Rock Club in 1981. In 1983, they became laureates of the first rock festival in Leningrad. Throughout his career, Shklarsky has been the author of music and theme songs for TV shows such as "The Kingdom of Crooked" and "Mouse Trap Law". He has also been involved in dubbing the animated film "The Nightmare Before Christmas".
Accident and Current Career
In January 2009, Shklarsky was awarded the "Certificate and Honorary Sign of St. Tatiana" by the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Vladimir. He continues to pursue an active musical career and is known for his graphic design and artistic skills. He creates sketches for his theatrical performances, instruments, and album covers for the band "Piknik". In 2018, Shklarsky was seriously injured in a car accident while traveling to a concert with his band.
