Biography of Eduard Didorenko
Eduard Didorenko, a general colonel of the police, professor, and corresponding member of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, was the founder and first rector of the Lugansk State University of Internal Affairs. He was also a distinguished jurist of Ukraine, having been awarded 16 orders and medals from the USSR, Afghanistan, and Ukraine, as well as 32 accolades from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and Russia. Didorenko was an honorary citizen of Lugansk (1997), the village of Novoaidar (2001), and Lugansk Oblast (2007).
Early Life and Family
Eduard Didorenko was born and raised in a family of educators. His father, Alexey Andreevich Didorenko (1903-1963), was a distinguished teacher in the schools of the Ukrainian SSR and a participant in the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and medals for his combat merits, including those for the defense of Stalingrad, the capture of Warsaw, Budapest, and victory over Germany and Japan. Alexey Andreevich also served as the first head of the regional education department and was the director of the Lugansk Oblast Institute for Teacher Training for 20 years. Eduard Didorenko's mother, Elena Georgievna Didorenko (nee Kushnaryova) (1918-2004), was a geography teacher and the director of the Kamenobrodskaya school.
Eduard Didorenko's widow is Svetlana Fedorovna Didorenko, and his son, Evgeny Eduardovich Didorenko, is a poet, composer, and bard.
Contributions
Eduard A. Didorenko was one of the early creators of the concept of combating organized crime and actively participated in the development of laws in Ukraine. He was repeatedly elected to high public positions, including the Day of the Police in the Luhansk Regional Department of Internal Affairs named after Eduard Didorenko. He also served as a member of the Commissions on Youth and Sports, and Deputy Activity, Legality, and Information.
In recognition of his contributions, on September 11, 2007, by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 729-r, the Lugansk State University of Internal Affairs was named after its founder, Eduard Didorenko. In September 2007, the street Karl Marx in the village of Yubileyny was renamed in honor of Eduard Didorenko. Additionally, on July 10, 2008, a class-museum dedicated to Eduard A. Didorenko was opened, along with a memorial plaque.
