Biography of Edward Madatyan

Edward Avetikovich Madatyan (also known as Huchuch Edo) was an Armenian statesman born on December 11, 1952, in Yerevan. He had a successful career in the Armenian government and various industries.

Early Life and Education

Madatyan attended the Leningrad Institute of Trade from 1978 to 1983, where he graduated as an economist. Prior to his higher education, he worked as a technician at the Yerevan Hydroproving Plant from 1970 to 1974.

Career

After completing his military service from 1974 to 1976, Madatyan returned to the Yerevan Hydroproving Plant as a senior engineer. From 1980 to 1987, he served as the head of the public catering association No. 3 and then became the director of the public catering association "Nairi" from 1987 to 1993.

In 1993, Madatyan became the first deputy director general of the Yerevan Furniture Factory named after Myasnikyan, a position he held until 1996. He also served as the deputy director of LLC "Mush" from 1994 to 1999 and as the head of the "Energy Control" department from 1997 to 1999.

In May 1999, Madatyan was elected as a member of parliament and became a part of the permanent commission on defense, national security, and internal affairs. He held this position as an independent member.

From 2000 to 2001, Madatyan served as the Minister of Transport and Communication of Armenia, contributing to the development and improvement of transportation and communication systems in the country.
