Eduardo Acevedo: Uruguayan Football Legend and Coach

Early Career and International Glory

Born in Uruguay, Eduardo Acevedo began his football career with Defensor Sporting in 1979. In 1983, he became a regular starter for the national team and over the next four years was a key defender for "La Celeste." Acevedo played a pivotal role in Uruguay's run to the knockout stages of the 1986 World Cup.

Professional Club Career

After the World Cup, Acevedo embarked on a professional club career that spanned Spain with Deportivo La Coruña, Mexico with Tecos UAG, and Japan with Toshiba Kawasaki. He returned to Uruguay to finish his playing days.

Coaching Journey

Acevedo began his coaching career in 1996. He has managed numerous clubs, including Uruguayan giants Nacional, Danubio, and Defensor Sporting, as well as Tecos UAG and Toshiba Kawasaki in Mexico and Japan, respectively. In 2012, he led Argentine club Banfield.

Return to Defensor Sporting

Since 2016, Acevedo has been the head coach of Defensor Sporting, the club where he started his career.
