Roberto Baggio - Italian Football Legend
Roberto Baggio (born on February 18, 1967) is a former Italian footballer who was considered one of the best in the world at the peak of his career. He played for renowned clubs such as Juventus, Milan, and Internazionale.

Early Life and Career
Baggio was born in the town of Caldogno, in the province of Veneto, near the city of Vicenza. His football talent was evident from an early age, and at the age of fifteen, he signed a contract with the Vicenza team, which played in the third division. It was here that Roberto learned the basics of football and became a professional player. By the age of eighteen, he was already listed in Fiorentina, one of Italy's top division teams.

In the first few months at his new club, Baggio struggled to get playing time. However, he eventually adapted to the local requirements and made his debut on September 1, 1986. Over the next three years, Baggio's career took off, and he became a revered figure and one of the main legends in Italian sports. His achievements not only brought him fame within the country but also attracted the attention of wealthier European clubs.
Success at Juventus
In 1990, Italian champions Juventus Torino offered Fiorentina a sum for Baggio that the team simply couldn't resist - twenty million dollars. Five seasons at Juventus proved beneficial for Roberto, as he further honed his skills as a forward. He scored 80 goals in 141 matches. However, despite Baggio's individual success, the team as a whole was not performing well.
Nevertheless, 1993-1994 became the pinnacle of Baggio's career. He won the UEFA Cup, was named "Sportsman of the Year," and "Footballer of the Year" according to FIFA. However, Baggio left Juventus in 1995, as his performance declined following his failure to convert a decisive penalty in the 1994 World Cup final. Despite singlehandedly leading Italy to the final, this fact offered him no solace.
Later Career and Retirement
Baggio spent two seasons at Milan, but his performance did not significantly improve. In 1997, he transferred to Bologna, where his situation slightly improved, and Roberto was able to restore some of his reputation. However, due to accumulated injuries throughout his career, Baggio retired from professional football in 2002. This decision was not entirely his, as coach Giovanni Trapattoni did not select him for the World Cup in Korea and Japan. This marked the beginning of Baggio's retirement process, and eventually, he was convinced to take a well-deserved break from the sport.
