Born in Paysandú, Uruguay, Egidio Arévalo Ríos is a renowned footballer who plays as a midfielder for Mexican club Veracruz and the Uruguay national team.

Early Career and Rise to Prominence

Arévalo Ríos began his career with hometown club Paysandú Bella Vista in 1999. In 2002, he moved to the capital city club Bella Vista and, four years later, joined the legendary Peñarol. His performances with Peñarol earned him his first call-up to the Uruguay national team in 2006.

International Debut and World Cup Success

Arévalo Ríos made his international debut for Uruguay against Venezuela in 2006. Despite playing two more matches for the "Celeste" in 2007, he was not selected for the Copa América and did not receive another call-up for three years.

Stints in Mexico and Uruguay

From 2007 to 2009, Arévalo Ríos played for two Mexican clubs, Monterrey and San Luis. He returned to Uruguay in 2008 to join Danubio.

Return to Peñarol and World Cup Glory

In 2010, Arévalo Ríos rejoined Peñarol, enjoying a successful run that included winning the Uruguayan championship. His performances caught the eye of the Uruguay national team staff, and he was called up for a friendly match against Switzerland. Arévalo Ríos played 63 minutes in the match, helping his team secure a 3-1 victory. He went on to become a regular starter for Uruguay at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Post-World Cup Travels

After the 2010/11 Apertura season in Uruguay, Arévalo Ríos returned to Mexico with Monterrey. However, he soon left for Brazilian club Botafogo, where he played alongside Uruguay teammate Sebastián Abreu. Following the 2011 Copa América, he joined newly promoted Mexican club Tijuana.

Milestone Goals
