Biography of Ekaterina Kabak

Ekaterina Kabak was born into a creative family. Her father, although working as an engineer, has always been passionate about photography and writing poetry. Her mother, on the other hand, works as a designer-florist. At just one and a half years old, little Katya could pronounce all the words, and by the age of three, she began speaking English. Being well-prepared for her first year of school, Katya found the curriculum uninteresting initially, as it seemed too easy for her. In school, Katya displayed strong leadership qualities. She was always surrounded by friends and acquaintances whom she explained things to and provided guidance. It is no wonder that in the ninth grade, Ekaterina became the President of the School Council.

Katya's character pushed her towards various fields of art - she felt that she needed to learn and experience everything. She pursued music, dance, and even graduated from Vyacheslav Zaitsev's modeling school. She became a model for the Children's Fashion and Dance Theater, where she spent six years and won the Grand Prix of the First All-Russian Children's Fashion Week with the collective. In addition, Katya participated in various television contests and shows, such as "Morning Star," "Big Wash," "Big Swim," "I'm a Mom," "Be Ready," "City of Women," "Song of the Year," "12 Angry Viewers," and she also became the winner of the "Young Beauty of the Moscow Region" competition.

One of the most significant events for Ekaterina was creating a dramatic production called "Requiem," dedicated to the tragic events at the Dubrovka Theater Center in Moscow. She recalls, "The performance was dedicated to the memory of the hostages who died. Through dance, I expressed pain and despair, the struggle between good and evil, life and death, love and sadness. The performance was so moving that many cried during my performance, and at the end, the audience exploded with applause. And that was my reward and victory. First and foremost, over myself." In the tenth grade, Ekaterina Kabak received the main prize for "Best Female Role" in the Moscow Theater Contest in Foreign Languages for her portrayal of Mrs. Doolittle in "Pygmalion." In 2004, she won the "Leader of the 21st Century" competition, held under the patronage of the Moscow Government.

Such a talented young woman was bound to attract the attention of directors, and it happened in 2005, albeit accidentally. While vacationing with her parents on a cruise, Katya met a girl who invited her to audition for the youth series "Club." Ekaterina initially dismissed the offer, but thanks to her friend's persuasion, she decided to go. And she made the right choice! Ekaterina was cast in the lead role of Maloletka, a character that quickly became beloved by the audience and served as a launching pad for her career. The series continued to be filmed in 2006 and 2007.

In parallel, in 2006, Ekaterina Kabak appeared in the series "Detectives" (as Yulia in the episode "Letters from Harry Potter") and "Law and Order," and in 2007, she appeared in "Formula of the Elements" and "Life as It Is" (as Darya in the episode "Stepfather"). In the same year, the series "Stepmother," directed by Valery Rozhko, was released. Katya was cast in the lead role of Lesya. Interestingly, another girl had initially been approved for the role of Lesya. However, as filming was about to begin, the series' executives noticed Katya, who was appearing in another film. The talented and beautiful young woman captivated them at first sight, and the choice was made.

Katya Kabak's character in the series, Lesya Simonova, is a 14-year-old girl whose mother died, and her father falls in love with another woman. The story follows Lesya's journey from dislike to love for her stepmother.

The filming of "Stepmother" provided Ekaterina with many opportunities for professional growth. She admits, "During the filming, I learned to dance quite well. We dance a lot in the series, and we have a professional choreographer. I also learned how to throw tantrums, scream, and run. And I can cry with one eye now. I also learned to understand children who don't have everything good at home. In the series, I felt for the first time what it's like for children when they're not understood at home." Despite her numerous on-screen appearances, Ekaterina Kabak did not rush with choosing her profession. Until the last moment, she planned to apply to the Economics Department of the State Academy of Management. However, her love for cinema ultimately prevailed, and in 2007, Ekaterina entered the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). Interestingly, she did not choose the acting department but the producing department. Why? As Ekaterina confesses, "The acting profession is not an education; in life, you need something more solid. I don't have an actor's mindset. When I'm on set, I think not only about my role but also about where the lighting is, how my co-stars are playing."

Even as a student at VGIK, she appeared in the role of Alena in the two-part feature film "A Woman Not Prone to Adventures" directed by Nikolai Mikhailov. Ekaterina continues to film for the series "Stepmother" and "Club." It can be confidently said that everything is just beginning in her life, and we will see this talented actress on the screen many more times.
