Biography of Ekaterina Yurchenko
Ekaterina Yurchenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC) for Financial and Economic Activities, invited "Segodnya" for a housewarming and shared details about her life in Crimea. She was born on August 10, 1964, in Sambir, Lviv Oblast. She graduated from the Kiev Trade and Economic Institute in 1985 and the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev in 1999. In 2002, she obtained a candidate degree in economics.
Ekaterina started her career as an economist-accountant and eventually became the Director of the Financial and Economic Department of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine in Kiev. In March 2010, she was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of the ARC, and in February 2011, she became the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the ARC.
She is a mother of two sons. Her younger son, Vladimir, is currently studying in school, while her elder son, Sergey, holds a position as the Deputy Director of the State Enterprise "Management of National Parks of the ARC" in Alushta.
Ekaterina has been living in Crimea for almost a year and decided to purchase her own apartment after realizing the importance of having her own place. Previously, she had been renting a two-room apartment on Gasprinskogo Street but moved to her own apartment on the 11th floor of a high-rise building on the corner of Kievskaya and Tolstoy streets in Simferopol. Despite growing up in private houses, she is not afraid of living at such heights, as she has been accustomed to moving from one region to another throughout her life due to her father's work as the head of collective and state farms.
In terms of her preferences and lifestyle, Ekaterina does not drink alcohol and follows a vegetarian diet. She believes that living without meat makes her feel better both physically and mentally. She also leads a calm and quiet life, avoiding parties and social gatherings. Instead, she enjoys practicing yoga for physical fitness and relaxation.
Ekaterina's dedication to her work is evident in her approach to managing her team. She values unity, respect, and a shared goal to make improvements and achieve success. She believes in working directly with capable individuals, regardless of their position, and has formed a cohesive team of 100 employees at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the ARC.
Despite her busy schedule, Ekaterina finds time for personal relaxation and enjoys visiting cultural sites and natural attractions in Crimea. She appreciates the beauty and history of places like the Vorontsov Palace and the Livadia Palace. She also takes pleasure in spending time with her friends, although most of them remain in Kiev. Additionally, she likes to explore new restaurants and cafes, often accompanied by her younger son, Vladimir.
Ekaterina's passion for her work and dedication to promoting economic development and cultural initiatives in Crimea have earned her respect and recognition from her colleagues and the public. She strives to make a positive impact on the region's economy and enhance its reputation as a tourist destination.
