Electronic: British Indietronic Duo

Electronic is a British supergroup formed in 1987 by Bernard Sumner of New Order and Johnny Marr, formerly of The Smiths. The band combines elements of house music and indie rock, creating a unique and captivating sound.

Formation and Early Success

Samner and Marr first began writing songs together in 1987, seeking a creative outlet outside of their respective bands. In 1989, they teamed up with Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe to record the single "Getting Away With It." The track became a hit, reaching number 8 on the UK charts.

In 1990, Electronic released their debut album, simply titled "Electronic." The album featured the hit single "Get the Message" (number 6 in the UK) and received critical acclaim from both the British and international press.

Collaboration with Pet Shop Boys

Electronic continued to collaborate with Pet Shop Boys, releasing the singles "Patience of a Saint" and "Dissappointed" in 1991 and 1992, respectively. These collaborations helped to raise Electronic's profile and establish them as a force in the music industry.

Revival and Later Years

After a three-year hiatus while Sumner reunited with New Order, Electronic returned in 1996 with the album "Raise Your Pressure." The album featured a more guitar-oriented sound, influenced by Britpop. Despite some strong songs, the album failed to meet critical or commercial expectations.

Electronic's third and final album to date, "Twisted Tenderness," was released in 1999. The album showcased a more aggressive guitar-driven sound, with only a few electronic tracks.
