Eleftherios Petrounias is a renowned Greek gymnast specializing in the rings apparatus. He is the 2016 Olympic rings champion, the 2015 world rings champion, a two-time European champion, and the 2015 inaugural European Games champion.

Early Success in 2011

Petrounias' international debut in 2011 marked the beginning of his success. At the European Championships in Berlin, he clinched third place in the rings event. However, he was unable to qualify for the London Olympics that same year.

International Triumphs in 2015

A few years later, Petrounias began to make significant strides internationally. 2015 proved to be an exceptional year for him. After winning gold medals at the European Championships and the European Games, Petrounias became the world champion in the rings event. He was the first Greek gymnast to achieve this title since Eleftherios Kosmidis in 2010, and his victory secured his place at the Olympics.
