Biography of Elena Filipyeva
Elena Filipyeva, a Ukrainian prima ballerina, was born on May 23, 1970, in Dniprorudne, Zaporizhia Oblast. Her parents, who were athletes, initially enrolled her in gymnastics classes, but she later began studying folk dances in a local club. In 1980, she entered the Kyiv Choreographic School and lived in a boarding school during her studies. After graduating in 1988, she was accepted into the ballet troupe of the National Opera and Ballet Theater of Ukraine. She rarely danced in the corps de ballet and her first solo role in the theater was the lead role in the ballet "Giselle". At the age of 23, in 1993, she became the youngest People's Artist of independent Ukraine. In 1994, she won the gold medal at the International Ballet Artists Competition "Maya" and, as a result, was invited by Maya Plisetskaya to perform on tour with the Gediminas Taranda's "Imperial Ballet" troupe. She rehearsed her roles in the ballets "Giselle" and "Carmen Suite" with Maya Plisetskaya. Elena has toured in Russia, Germany, Spain, France, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, and other countries. In 1997 and 2010, she participated in the international festival "Steps to Heaven" in Kyiv. In 2011, as part of this festival, she choreographed "Christmas Encounters: Three Pianos" and created the ballet composition "Dance of Self-Dawn". She received a higher education degree from the International Slavic University.
Personal Life
In 2004, Elena gave birth to her daughter Lisa, whom she raised as a single mother. On June 13, 2013, she married ballet artist Vitaliy Netrunenko, her second marriage.
