Biography of Jiří Kylián
Jiří Kylián, a Czech dancer and choreographer, was born in Prague in 1947. He studied at the Prague Conservatory and the Royal Ballet School in London before joining the Stuttgart Ballet as a dancer in 1968.
Early Career
After joining the Stuttgart Ballet, Kylián presented his first choreographic work set to the music of Béla Bartók in 1970. Three years later, he created his first ballet for the Nederlands Dans Theater. In 1977, Kylián became the artistic director of the company. However, in 1999, he stepped down from this position and remained as a resident choreographer and artistic advisor.
Accomplishments
