Early Life and Education
Elena Golovan was born on a summer day in 1994 in the Ukrainian city of Lubny. As an only child to parents who both worked tirelessly to provide a bright future for their daughter, Elena developed a strong sense of independence at a young age. She excelled in school, graduating with honors after completing the 9th grade. However, her true passion lay in dance, particularly Latin American ballroom style, which she began pursuing at the age of 11.
Elena's exceptional talent earned her the rank of Candidate Master of Sports in Ukraine. She moved to Kyiv and enrolled in the Kyiv Variety and Circus College, where she discovered the classical and modern styles of dance. Upon graduating, Elena obtained a degree in "Choreographer-Director."
Television Projects
Elena's dance career took a pivotal turn in 2012 when she appeared in a music video for the Ukrainian group "Nerealnye Patsany," directed by renowned choreographer Miguel. The exposure led her to audition for the popular Ukrainian TV show "So You Think You Can Dance." While she failed to make it to the Top 100 in season 5, she persisted and returned for season 6. Her unique fusion of poetry and dance during the casting phase generated both praise and controversy, ultimately securing her a spot on the show.
Elena advanced to the Top 12 and even avoided nominations for several weeks, despite being considered less skilled than some of her competitors. Her strong support group from her hometown of Lubny is often credited with helping her stay in the competition. She eventually reached the Top 6 before being eliminated.
Following her departure from the show, Elena began teaching dance in a Kyiv studio and was frequently invited as a judge to various Ukrainian dance competitions. She also landed a minor role in the Ukrainian TV series "Bar Duck." Additionally, she collaborated with the choreography group for the Ukrainian version of "X-Factor."
In 2015, Elena decided to join the Ukrainian version of the dating reality show "The Bachelor." Driven by her grandmother's admiration for the program, she initially expected to make a quick exit. However, she unexpectedly found herself connecting with Ukrainian footballer Serhiy Melnyk, the titular "Bachelor." Despite reaching the finale, Elena's journey ended in heartbreak when Serhiy chose another contestant over her.
Injury and "Dances on TNT"
After "The Bachelor," Elena continued pursuing choreography as a teacher until a serious leg injury temporarily sidelined her. However, the premiere season of the Russian dance competition "Dances on TNT" ignited her passion for dance once more. Elena traveled to Novosibirsk in August 2015 for the second season's auditions, where she reunited with Miguel, who recognized her from her previous music video appearance. She impressed the judges with her modern dance routine and earned a spot on Miguel's team.
Elena's impact on the show was immediate, with notable performances in a duet with Max Nesterovich and a solo routine set to Leningrad's controversial song "Expont." Despite being eliminated in a later episode, her absence was short-lived. In March 2016, she became one of the 20 participants selected by Miguel and Yegor Druzhinin for the "Battle of the Seasons" spin-off.
Personal Life
Elena experienced her first serious romantic relationship with fellow dancer Dmitry Shchebet on the show "So You Think You Can Dance." Their romance garnered significant attention from the show's fans, but ultimately ended in May 2014. The former couple maintained a friendly relationship, collaborating on dance workshops and judging panels.
Her personal life once again made headlines when she appeared on "The Bachelor." While initially hesitant about her chances, Elena found herself falling for the leading man. After her disappointment in the finale, she took time to reflect and embraced the experience as a valuable lesson.
Elena has remained private about her romantic relationships since then, maintaining active social media accounts on Instagram and VKontakte with exclusive access for her friends.
Current Endeavors
Following her appearances on "The Bachelor" and "Dances on TNT," Elena decided to pursue a long-held dream of creating her own clothing brand for dance training. In collaboration with designer Gleb Nesmiyan, she launched a line of vibrant, practical, and comfortable workout apparel.
In early 2017, Elena underwent an image transformation, debuting a blonde hair color and updated makeup style. Some fans speculate that she may have also undergone cosmetic procedures, including lip augmentation and facial contouring.
As of March 2018, Elena continues to balance her work commitments with her participation in the Russian season of "The Bachelor," where she is vying for the attention and affection of popular singer Yegor Creed.
