Biography of Andy Kershaw

Andy Kershaw was born in 1959 in Rochdale, Lancashire. He studied politics at the University of Leeds, where he became involved in the entertainment industry. After completing his studies, Kershaw started working at Radio Aire in Leeds before moving to London. In London, he worked as a tour manager for various musicians, including Billy Bragg.

The Whistle Test and BBC Radio

In the mid-1980s, Kershaw presented his own music program called 'Whistle Test' on BBC television. He later joined BBC Radio 1, hosting an evening show on Saturdays that focused on music from around the world.
