Elisa, also known as Elisa Toffoli, is an Italian singer and songwriter known for her unique blend of rock, blues, and soul. Born in 1977 in Monfalcone, Italy, Elisa showed incredible talent in various art forms from a young age, including dancing, singing, drawing, and even writing. However, it was music that captivated her the most.

At the age of 11, Elisa started writing songs, and by 15, she appeared on a karaoke program on television. It was at the age of 16 that Elisa met producer Caterina Caselli, and shortly after, she signed a contract with the record label 'Sugar'. Elisa worked on her debut album, "Pipes & Flowers," at the age of 18 in Berkeley, California, with producer Corrado Rustici, known for his work with artists such as Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin. The album's first single, "Sleeping in Your Hand," was released in the summer of 1997, followed by the album's release in September.

The success of her debut was evident, as "Pipes & Flowers" achieved triple platinum status in Italy. Elisa's songs from the album earned her the 'Premio Italiano della Musica' award, and she also had successful performances at various festivals. In 2000, Elisa released her second album, "Asile's World," and recorded her first song in Italian, "Luce," which became a huge success and earned her the title of 'Song of the Year' at the Sanremo Festival. In the same year, Elisa received three awards at the 'Italian Music Awards' for Best Female Artist, Best Single, and Best Song.

In 2001, Elisa released her third official album, "Then Comes the Sun," which once again achieved triple platinum status. She collaborated with Rustici on this album as well. Elisa's international album, "Elisa," was released in 2002, featuring the best songs from her previous albums. The song "Come Speak to Me" gained her many fans across Europe and received significant airplay on MTV.

Elisa's style, characterized by a mix of rock, blues, and soul, became her trademark, along with her recognizable and powerful voice. Her album "Lotus" was released in 2003 and consisted of a compilation of her best songs from previous albums, including an acoustic version of Leonard Cohen's legendary song, "Hallelujah."

In 2004, Elisa released "Pearl Days," with all songs written by Glen Ballard. She continued to tour extensively and took part in numerous concerts, releasing the single "Swan" in 2005. Elisa had the honor of performing a duet with Tina Turner in 2006, singing the song "Teach Me Again." That same year, she performed at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Turin, singing "Luce."

In November 2006, Elisa released the compilation album "Soundtrack '96-'06," which included her best compositions from the past decade. In Italy, the album achieved diamond status. Elisa released the albums "Heart" in 2009 and "Ivy" in 2010.
