Elisa Longo Borghini was born on December 10, 1991, in Ornavasso, Italy. Her mother, Guidina Dal Sasso, was a renowned cross-country skier, while her brother, Paolo Longo Borghini, is a successful professional cyclist.

Professional Debut and Early Success

Longo Borghini began her professional cycling career in 2011 with the Top Girls Fassa Bortolo team. In 2012, she joined Hitec Products–Mistral Home and made a strong debut, winning the young rider classification and a stage at the Thüringen Ladies Tour. She also placed third in the Giro d'Italia Femminile and earned a bronze medal in the U23 time trial at the European Road Championships.

Breakthrough Year and International Success

In 2013, Longo Borghini emerged as a top contender, winning the Italian National Time Trial Championship and the Trofeo Alfredo Binda. She also finished second overall in the Emakumeen Euskal Bira, securing the mountains classification. At the World Road Championships, she took home a bronze medal in the road race.
