Early Life and Education
Elizabeth Debicki was born on August 2, 1990, in Paris, where her parents, professional dancers, were working at the time. In 1995, the Debicki family relocated to Elizabeth's mother's native Australia, settling in Melbourne, the country's second-largest city. Elizabeth's father found work at a local theater, while her mother opened a dance school. She attended Huntingtower School in the city's eastern suburbs. Later, she welcomed a younger brother and sister.
Exceptional in her studies, Elizabeth graduated high school with honors, excelling in English and Drama. In 2007, she enrolled in the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne. In 2009, she received the Richard Pratt Scholarship for academic achievement. She graduated in 2010.
Film and Television Career
Elizabeth's film debut came in 2011 with Stephen Elliott's comedy "A Few Best Men." In 2013, she starred in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. Her theater experience caught Luhrmann's attention, leading to her casting.
