Ellie Litzov: Battling Anorexia and Finding Recovery
Early Struggles with BullyingAs a young girl growing up in Melbourne, Australia, Ellie Litzov faced constant bullying for being overweight. The cruel taunts and physical abuse took a devastating toll on her self-esteem, leading her to desperately seek acceptance.

Turning to Sports and Eating Disorders
Driven by a desire to lose weight and fit in, Ellie joined a competitive swimming team. She trained relentlessly, dropping significant weight and gaining the approval and admiration she had craved. However, the intense training schedule left little time for socializing.

The Onset of Anorexia
As Ellie's obsession with weight loss grew, she began to severely restrict her food intake. At her lowest point, she consumed nothing but fish and vegetables in meager portions. Over two months, she lost over 26 pounds, resulting in her first hospitalization.

Family Intervention and Weight Gain
Determined to support Ellie, her family and friends pressured her to eat. Consumed by guilt and shame, she binge-ate on unhealthy foods, gaining over 70 pounds. However, the weight gain triggered feelings of disgust and isolation.

Relapse into Starvation
Despite the negative consequences of her weight gain, Ellie's eating disorder remained unchecked. She resumed extreme dieting, restricting her intake to a salad or steamed cabbage with salt. Eventually, she stopped eating altogether.

Near-Fatal Health Crisis
As Ellie's weight plummeted, her health deteriorated rapidly. She developed kidney and liver failure, and her weight dropped to a dangerously low 77 pounds. She became bedridden and struggled to move.

A Wake-Up Call
After almost a week of starvation, Ellie experienced a life-threatening seizure. The realization that she was on the brink of death finally forced her to seek help.
Recovery and Veganism
Hospitalized and facing the consequences of her eating disorder, Ellie made the decision to rebuild her life. She adopted a vegan diet, supported by her sister and mother. Today, her daily meals include fruits, vegetables, sweet potatoes, and Thai curry soup.
Becoming an Inspiration
Ellie's journey through recovery has empowered her to become an advocate for others struggling with eating disorders. She shares her experiences and vegan lifestyle on Instagram and YouTube. Through her platform, she aims to inspire others to choose life and seek the support they need.
