Early Career and Playing for Azerbaijan

As an Azerbaijani footballer, the midfielder began his professional career in 1993 with the top-flight team Inshaatchi Sabirabad. He played for Baku's Dynamo from 1997 to 1999, and then spent the 1999/2000 season with Kapaz Ganja.

Stints in Bulgaria and Russia

In early 2001, the footballer moved to Bulgaria and played for Lovech and Cherno More Varna. He returned to Azerbaijan during the 2001/02 season and joined Neftchi Baku. In 2003, he played for Alania Vladikavkaz in Russia but later rejoined Neftchi.

Success with Khazar Lankaran

From 2005 to 2009, the player played for Khazar Lankaran. Before the start of the 2007/08 season, he became the team's captain but was stripped of the honor in August due to unsportsmanlike conduct during a UEFA Cup match against Dinamo Zagreb.

Retirement and Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, the footballer transitioned to coaching. He obtained a UEFA Category B coaching license in 2012 and was appointed Khazar Lankaran's coach in September of the same year. In November 2012, he became the interim head coach following Yunis Huseynov's dismissal.

International Career

The footballer has represented Azerbaijan's national team since 2000.
