An Unfortunate Accident

Unfortunately, Emma's troubles did not end there. The impact also damaged her nerves, leading to several root canal surgeries.
Over the following weeks, Emma had to stick to a diet of soft food and cocktails as she felt her teeth were fragile and on the verge of falling out. However, she eventually grew accustomed to her restored smile. In fact, Emma even found gratitude in falling on her teeth, as she realized that an impact on any other part of her head could have had much more serious consequences requiring the expertise of a neurosurgeon, or worse.

While there is no official statistic on the number of dental accidents resulting in tooth loss, it is estimated that hundreds and thousands of people face similar incidents each year, damaging or ruining their teeth. The main concern lies not only in these incidents but also in the fact that medical professionals have yet to develop a clear and specific protocol to address the needs of such patients. While a knocked-out tooth may not be as dangerous as a broken bone, the needs of these patients should not be ignored. Emma Stevens' case serves as a reminder for British healthcare providers to seriously reconsider their policies in this area.
