Emerich Hadfry von Livno: A Distinguished Austro-Hungarian General
Early Military CareerEmerich Hadfry began his military service as commander of the 39th Honved Division. He fought in Poland as part of VI Armeekorps, led by General Arz von Straußenberg.
Commander of the Composite Corps
In September 1915, Hadfry became commander of the Composite Corps, also known as the Henriquez Corps. His group operated in Podolia as part of General von Pflanzer-Baltin's 7th Army.
Advancement and Promotions
Hadfry's group was significantly reinforced in June 1916. In November, he served in Moldova as part of General Kirchbach auf Lauterbach's 3rd Army. His corps was renamed XXVI Armeekorps in April 1917.
Command of VI and XIII Armeekorps
In July 1917, Hadfry assumed command of VI Armeekorps on the Volhynian Front. He commanded German and Austro-Hungarian divisions under his leadership. In December, he became commander of XIII Armeekorps.
VIII Armeekorps and 1st General Command
Hadfry briefly commanded VIII Armeekorps from March to April 1918. He then led the 1st General Command from April to July of the same year.
Final Commands and Honors
In July 1918, Hadfry was appointed commander of XXIII Armeekorps. In August, he assumed command of XXIV Armeekorps. With this corps, he participated in operations on the Italian Front. Hadfry was recalled from the front in October 1918.
