Early Life and EducationEric Garcia is an American writer known for his humorous novels, including the "Anonymous Rex" series and several standalone works. He initially enrolled in the English, Literature, and Film Studies program at Cornell University but transferred to the University of Southern California during his freshman year.

Literary Career
"Anonymous Rex" Series and Early NovelsGarcia's literary career began in 1999 with the publication of his debut novel, "Anonymous Rex." Its sequel, "Casual Rex," followed in 2001. Despite being a prequel, it was marketed as a sequel, leading to some confusion.
"Matchstick Men" and Hollywood Adaptations
Garcia's 2002 novel, "Matchstick Men," was published by Random House. The novel was later adapted into the 2003 film "Matchstick Men," directed by Ridley Scott, with Garcia credited as a co-screenwriter.

2004 was a productive year for Garcia. He released the third installment in the "Anonymous Rex" series, "Hot and Sweaty Rex," followed by his satirical novella, "Cassandra French's Finishing School for Boys," published by HarperCollins/ReganBooks.
"Repo Men" and Other Screenwriting Projects
In 2007, it was announced that Garcia would co-write the screenplay for the film "Repo Men," starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. The novel, "The Repossession Mambo," was published in early 2009. In 2010, the film adaptation of "Repo Men," directed by Miguel Sapochnik, was released, accompanied by a re-release of "The Repossession Mambo" under the title "Repo Men."
Personal Life and Current Work
Garcia currently resides in Southern California with his wife and two daughters, where he continues to write. In 2010, he adapted John Searles' novel "Strange but True" for an upcoming thriller film directed by Alex and David Pastor.
