Olaf Bjorn Lokniet: A Literary Journey
Early Life and EducationOlaf Bjorn Lokniet was born in 1950 in Vadheim, Norway. In 1956, his family emigrated to New Zealand, which became his adopted home. Lokniet graduated from the University of Auckland in 1973 with a Doctor of Medicine degree.
Literary Career
Lokniet began publishing his works in 1983, gaining recognition for his historical fantasy novels both in New Zealand and the United States. Inspired by American avant-garde writer John Maddox Roberts, he embarked on a series of tales about Conan the Barbarian in the mid-1980s.
Conan Chronicles
Lokniet's contributions to the "Conan of Cimmeria" series include novels such as "The Tower of the Elephant," "The Fire Arrows," "The Keys of Belk," and "Necessities." These works have not yet been translated into Russian.
Academic Contributions
In addition to his Conan fiction, Lokniet has also authored scholarly articles on Hyboria, the fictional setting of Robert E. Howard's Conan tales. His analysis and insights have contributed to the understanding of Howard's literary universe.
