Eric Lemming, a renowned Swedish track and field athlete, etched his name in the annals of Olympic history as a three-time champion.
Early Olympic Performances
At the inaugural 1900 Paris Olympics, Lemming showcased his versatility by competing in multiple disciplines. He placed fourth in high jump, pole vault, and hammer throw. Additionally, he finished eighth in discus throw and twelfth in long jump. His result in the triple jump remains unknown.
Success at the 1906 Athens Games
In 1906, Lemming participated in nine events at the unofficial Athens Games. He triumphed in javelin throw, earning a gold medal, and secured three bronze medals in shot put, decathlon, and tug-of-war. However, these medals hold no official status as the event was not organized by the International Olympic Committee.
Olympic Gold in London
At the 1908 London Olympics, javelin throw became an official event. Lemming cemented his dominance, winning two gold medals in javelin throw using two different styles. He also competed in hammer throw and discus throw, employing both styles.
Victorious in Stockholm
In his final Olympic appearance in 1912 in Stockholm, Lemming defended his javelin title and set a new Olympic record. He also finished fourth in the two-handed javelin event.
