Eric Regan: A Canadian-South Korean Hockey Journey
Born in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, Eric Regan's hockey journey began with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. After playing 25 games for the Otters, he moved to the Oshawa Generals in 2005-06, where he served as captain from 2006-08.
North American Career
In 2008, Regan signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks. He spent the next few seasons playing for the Ducks' farm teams in the American Hockey League, including the Iowa Chops, San Antonio Rampage, Syracuse Crunch, and Elmira Jackals.
European and Asian Adventure
In 2011, Regan left North America to join the Hannover Scorpions in Germany. After two successful seasons, he moved to the Nippon Paper Cranes in Japan's Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH) in 2013-14. He led the Cranes to the ALIH championship and was named the league's top-scoring defenseman.
South Korean Stardom
In 2014-15, Regan joined the High1 team in South Korea, where he became the league's top-scoring defenseman again. He moved to Anyang Halla in 2015 and helped them win another ALIH championship. Regan also agreed to play for the South Korean national team.
International Debut
Regan made his international debut for South Korea in the 2016 World Championship Division I. He scored one goal in five games.
Current Status
Eric Regan continues to play for Anyang Halla and the South Korean national team. His unique hockey journey has allowed him to experience different cultures and achieve success on both the domestic and international levels.
