Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Eric Wrixon was born in Northern Ireland and developed a passion for music from a young age. Despite his initial idea for the legendary rock band Them, his parents' refusal to sign a record contract at the time prevented his involvement.
The Them Years
In 1965, Rickson rejoined Them at the age of 18, having recently completed his education. He briefly performed with the Belfast R&B group The People and contributed to their recording for the compilation album "Ireland's Greatest Sounds."
Other Bands and the Birth of Thin Lizzy
In 1966, Rickson joined the Belfast group Wheels and recorded the single "Kicks." The following year, he relocated to Germany with the band The Never Never Band and later joined the Irish pop group The Trixons.
In 1969, Rickson co-founded Thin Lizzy with Eric Bell. However, financial difficulties forced him to return to Germany, leaving the band after only a short time.
Reunions and New Projects
In 1979, Rickson reunited with Them in Hamburg, recording the album "Shut Your Mouth." Despite leaving the group before their subsequent tour, he remained connected to its legacy.
In 1993, Rickson established Them - The Belfast Blues Band, which toured extensively across Europe. The band gained recognition for its progressive rhythm and blues, featuring memorable songs like "Crazy Woman" and "Marcel's Song."
Later Years and Legacy
Currently residing in Italy, Rickson continues to perform with his group, which includes Billy McCoy, Luca Nardi, and Tom Wagener. They are actively working on a new studio album and considering the release of a concert DVD.
