Biography of Erika Slezak

Erika Slezak is an American actress who was once extremely popular in the United States. She was born on August 5, 1946 in Hollywood, California. She is the daughter of actor Walter Slezak and Joanne Van Rijn. Her grandfather, Leo Slezak, was a famous opera tenor, so it is no surprise that most of her family was involved in the arts in one way or another. Erika always dreamed of pursuing an acting career.

She attended Sacred Heart High School near Greenwich, Connecticut. At the age of seventeen, she became one of the youngest students at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, which she graduated from in 1966. After some time, Erika began working in theater and auditioned for the TV show "All My Children" in 1971, although she did not pass the casting. However, she was offered the role of Victoria in the film "One Life to Live", which marked the beginning of her successful acting career.

Erika Slezak received recognition and numerous awards for her talent. She won the "Daytime Emmys" award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series six times, in 1984, 1986, 1992, 1995, 1996, and 2005. In addition, in 2000, she received the Soap Opera Digest Award alongside actor Mark Derwin. Currently, she resides in New York, United States with her husband Brian Davies and they have two children, son Michael and daughter Amanda. Amanda has also followed in her mother's footsteps and become a professional actress.
