Erin Donohue is an American athlete who specializes in middle-distance running (800 meters, 1500 meters, one mile). She was born on May 8, 1983, in Haddonfield, N.J. From a young age, she had a passion for becoming a professional athlete and winning various competitions.

During her time at Haddonfield High School in Haddonfield, N.J., Donohue participated in local junior competitions and achieved excellent results, catching the attention of experts. In 2001, after graduating from high school, she enrolled at North Carolina college and became the top female runner at the university.

In the 2004 season, Donohue made her professional athletics debut. She finished third in the 800 meters at ACC Outdoors with a time of 2 minutes 09.43 seconds, fourth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4 minutes 20.53 seconds, and fifth in javelin throw with a distance of 41.15 meters.

The following season proved to be even more fruitful. Donohue finished fourth in the NCAA Outdoors in the 1500 meters with a time of 4 minutes 14.57 seconds. She also won gold medals at the ACC Outdoor Championship in the 800 meters (2 minutes 09.06 seconds) and the ACC Indoor Championship in the same distance (2 minutes 10.98 seconds).

In 2006, Donohue's achievements were less significant as she only placed ninth among American athletes in the 800 meters.

The 2007 season was remarkably successful for Donohue. She finished third in the US Outdoors National Championship in the 1500 meters with a time of 4 minutes 08.22 seconds. She also won the mile event at the Penn Relays with a time of 4 minutes 35.70 seconds. In Heusden, she set a personal record in the 1500 meters with a time of 4 minutes 05.55 seconds.

The following year, Donohue performed excellently in the Olympic trials, finishing second in the 1500 meters. She went on to win the Adidas Track Classic in the 800 meters. Donohue arrived in Beijing in great form to compete in the 2008 Olympics, where she became a champion.
