Biography of Erin Jill Andrews

Erin Jill Andrews was born on May 4, 1978, in Lewiston, Maine. Her parents, Stephen 'Steve' Andrews and Paula Andrews, moved to Tampa, Florida when she was young, as her father began working as a journalist at WFLA-TV. Andrews attended Bloomingdale High School near Tampa and graduated from the University of Florida in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in telecommunications. During her time as a student, she was a member of the 'Zeta Tau Alpha' organization and part of the 'Dazzlers' dance group, which supported the sports teams of the Florida Gators.

Internet Sensation and Scandal

In 2009, Andrews became an internet sensation when a video of her naked in her hotel room was secretly recorded and leaked online. The incident caused a scandal and threatened her career. Andrews appeared on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' in September 2009, where she discussed the incident and expressed her fear that the video could harm her professional life.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

In October 2009, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Michael David Barrett, a 47-year-old divorced father, in Chicago, Illinois. Barrett was charged with invasion of privacy for recording and distributing the video without Andrews' knowledge or consent. He was also accused of attempting to sell the material to the celebrity news website TMZ.com. In December 2009, Barrett pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.

In July 2010, Andrews filed a lawsuit against the 'Radisson' hotel (owned by the 'Marriott' hotel company) and the alleged perpetrator, claiming negligence and invasion of privacy. Andrews continued her career in sports journalism, working as a freelance correspondent for FSN Florida in 2000. She then moved on to Sunshine Network, where she reported on the professional hockey team 'Tampa Bay Lightning'. Andrews also worked as a studio host and occasional reporter for Turner Sports.
