Biography of Estelle Margaret Parsons
Estelle Margaret Parsons, born on November 20, 1927, is an American actress of film, theater, and television. She is also a theater director. Parsons rose to fame in 1967 when she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Blanche Barrow in "Bonnie and Clyde." She was nominated once again in 1968 for her role in "Rachel, Rachel."

Early Life and Education
Parsons was born in Lynn, Massachusetts. She graduated from Connecticut College in 1949 and then started studying law at Boston University. However, instead of pursuing a career in law, Estelle decided to become a singer with the goal of pursuing an acting career.

Stage Career
Parsons made her stage debut in 1961. Throughout the 1960s, her stage career continued to flourish, and she had the opportunity to play several roles in Broadway productions. Feeling established as a theater actress, Estelle decided to venture into the world of cinema.

Film and Television Career
During the 1970s, Parsons actively worked in both film and theater. She even directed several Broadway plays during this time. One of her notable television projects was the award-winning comedy series "Roseanne." Estelle was nominated for the Tony Award four times and was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 2004.

Estelle Parsons' active career began after her move to New York. She worked as a screenwriter and commentator, and in 1961, she made her Off-Broadway debut. In 1963, she received the Theatre World Award for her role in "Whisper into My Good Ear/Mrs. Dally Has a Lover." Alongside her stage work, Parsons was also known for her directing work, including Broadway productions of "Romeo and Juliet," "Macbeth," and "As You Like It" in 1986, as well as the Off-Broadway play "Orgasmo Adulto Escapes from the Zoo" by Dario Fo. She served as the artistic director of the Actors Studio in Manhattan for five years until 2003.
In 1980, Parsons auditioned for the role of Pamela Voorhees in the cult horror film "Friday the 13th," but the role ultimately went to Betsy Palmer.
